As Skylar unravels his grandfather's tales of pain and adversity, he finds himself on a profound journey of healing and redemption. It's a compelling narrative that captures the resilience and courage required to navigate through the shadows of the past."

Statement from Filmmaker

Skylar's Comet is a personal story as I have dealt with some depression and the effects of colonization. Many of the Indigenous youth have been struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide, but have no idea why. My film is an exploration of that theme, by telling the story of the grandson and the grandfather and their struggle on being Indigenous in a modern world. Both are tied together through intergenerational trauma. I wanted to create a story that gives hope to all Indigenous communities affected by colonialism. I hope the film will give a perspective to non-indigenous people about what the Indigenous communities are dealing with. By sharing such stories we can give hope to others.
