Synopsis

dIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

I directed this film, Dispatches from the Vietnam War: Beer, Bunkers and Typewriters, out of a strong desire to share stories about the Vietnam War that challenged assumptions I, and arguably others, have about that particular conflict. Lloyd’s stories cut right through and hit you in such a way that you want to hear more. The challenge in making this film was to find the right sequence of stories from the full sit-down interview and then figure out how to cut those down to fit the final length. I feel lucky that he trusted me with his stories. Interviewing him for the film was a highlight of my career.
